How You’ll Find Out Your Team
About 1-2 weeks before the season starts, you’ll receive an email with:
- Your child’s team name and division
- Coach name and contact information
- Practice day, time, and location
- First game date and field
If you haven’t received team information within a week of the season starting, check your spam folder first, then contact team@ayso13.org.
Team Communication
Your Team Manager
Every team has a volunteer team manager who handles logistics. They’ll contact you with:
- Practice reminders
- Game schedules and field locations
- Snack sign-ups
- Team events
How Teams Communicate
Most teams use one of these methods:
| Method | What to Expect |
|---|---|
| Official announcements, schedule changes | |
| Team app (TeamSnap, Band, etc.) | Game reminders, RSVP, quick updates |
| Group text | Last-minute changes, cancellations |
Your coach or team manager will let you know which method your team uses.
Add your coach and team manager to your phone contacts so their messages don’t get filtered.
Game Day Basics
Finding Your Game
You can also check the weekly schedule PDF posted each week.
Game times are typically Saturday mornings. Exact times vary by division:
- Younger divisions (6U-8U): Usually earlier morning slots

Practice
When and Where
Practice is typically once per week on a weeknight (Monday-Thursday). Your coach sets the day and time based on field availability and team schedules.
Practice locations may be at a different field than where games are held. See the field map to find your practice location.
What Happens at Practice
Practices usually run 60-75 minutes and include:
- Warm-up activities
- Skill-building drills
- Scrimmages (practice games)
- Cool-down
Parents are welcome to watch but are asked to stay on the sidelines and let the coach run practice.
Missing Practice
Let your coach know in advance if your child will miss practice.
Weather Cancellations
Checking Field Status
Before heading to a game or practice, check the field status:
You can also check our homepage for weather alerts.
How Cancellations Work
- Games: The region decides by early Saturday morning. Check email and the field status page.
- Practices: Your coach decides and will notify the team directly.
If conditions look bad, check the website before leaving home.
Standings and Schedules
Game Schedule
Season Standings
AYSO emphasizes development over winning. Standings are available, but there’s no elimination — every team plays a full season, and every player receives equal playing time.
End of Season
Final Games
The last regular-season games are typically in mid-November. Some divisions have a playoffs format during the final weeks, but every team continues playing.
Team Party
Most teams organize an end-of-season party to celebrate the season and receive participation awards. Your team manager will coordinate details.
