Women’s Coaching Alliance
The Women’s Coaching Alliance (WCA) partners with Region 13 to develop young women as sports coaches and leaders.
Why It Matters
About 94% of women in executive positions have a background in sports. Coaching provides leadership skills that benefit careers beyond athletics.
For Young Coaches (Ages 15-26)
The program pairs young women with AYSO teams:
- Work in pairs to coach teams
- Receive guidance from two adult mentors
- Attend leadership and coaching classes
- Receive compensation for coaching
How to Apply

For Adult Mentors
Mentors support young coaches through the season. Both experienced and non-experienced mentors are welcome.
Time Commitment
- 30 minutes to 3 hours weekly during season
- Check-in meetings
- Attendance at practices and games
The approach emphasizes hands-on learning — mentors let young coaches develop problem-solving skills with support rather than real-time intervention.
